The R6 inherits sensor technology from Canon's flagship EOS 1DX mark III DSLR. The Canon EOS R6 is a great entry point into the R system for any enthusiast who wishes to enjoy Canon's many innovative RF mount lens offerings.

Users looking for more resolution should consider the Canon EOS R5. Sports specialists should also consider the Canon EOS R3. Cinematographers and videographers specializing in long form content should also consider the Canon EOS R5C. In 2022 Canon introduced the EOS R6 Mark II which offers a modest resolution increase, some additional video quality improvements, and some incremental autofocus upgrades at a higher price. If you don't need IBIS the EOS RP is a more affordable full frame alternative.
